How about this idea? My intent is to reduce the repeating map syndrome.
1) The system creates a list of all the maps played in the last 3 matches for all the players in the new match. A maximum lookback of 3 hours.
2) A count of each map played is built.
3) A random selection is made from the map(s) with the lowest count.
Using 10 maps for my examples.
Ex1:
Map1: 3
Map2: 2
Map3: 5
Map4: 1
Map5: 6
Map6: 3
Map7: 4
Map8: 6
Map9: 0
Map10: 0
In this case, a random selection of maps 9 and 10 is made. No one sees a repeat.
Ex2:
Map1: 3
Map2: 2
Map3: 5
Map4: 1
Map5: 6
Map6: 3
Map7: 4
Map8: 4
Map9: 1
Map10: 1
In this case a random selection of maps 4,9 and 10 is made. 1 person may see a repeat.
Ex3:
Map1: 3
Map2: 3
Map3: 3
Map4: 3
Map5: 3
Map6: 3
Map7: 3
Map8: 3
Map9: 3
Map10: 3
In this case a random selection of all maps is made. Three people may see a map repeat.
