Yes, you can, but the editor is Markdown instead of BBcode in the new forums.

Having done similar things like this in the past myself, the usual procedure is to freeze the current forum so it's content is static. The old forum's content gets imported/converted into the new forum. At that point the new forum can take the place of the old forum.

Obviously I have no idea if that's how they intend to do it.

Hopefully they did a trial import/convert run to know more or less how long the forum will be down. Since the forum has been down for weeks previously I wouldn't bet on it.

If you have something here that you think you can't afford to lose I suggest you copy it now - just in case it gets lost.

This forum will be frozen. It's not possible to transfer the old data through two different forum programs. We've already transferred/rewritten stickies that we felt were needed.

I'm not going to argue about it other than to say almost anything is technically possible if the inclination is there.

How long do they intend to keep the old forum available in a frozen state? This forum's url will change to something like forums.paladins.com--> old_forums.paladins.com and the new one take it's place or the new one has a new url?

The new one has a different URL, and I'm pretty sure it should remain frozen forever.

People usually come in a forum for a question, then stay for sense of achievement. Considering the forum is almost desert since many months and that it's kept in captivity by just one user spamming thread on EVERYTHING, absolutely without knowledge (and that more than one users told me they've left for it's pointless debating, when someone simply doesn't want to understand), removing the achievements is the best action to do to wipe out also the few guys still using the forum.
I've run and used many forums in my life. Some of them were resetting achievements and post counts at fixed intervals. Trust me on that: it's the best way to act, if you want to *CLOSE* the forum.
This is basic human psychology "not even the dog waves the tail for nothing". Say to them not to remove achievements. It is not a nice idea.

Update: a few trophy/achievement plugins have been suggested to the web team. There might be one implemented into the new forums.

Hey everyone, we super close to launch right now. Just sit tight for a bit longer.

If you want to transfer your threads over - I recommend that you don't copy paste in the edit window, but rather take the plain text and reformat it with markdown over on the new forums. Otherwise you'll have to remove all your BBcode.


For Koopakid: You will be able to change your text size in signature, but not colour, alignment, or quotes. Font size doesn't have a button but the markdown looks like this:

As we move closer to launch, we want everyone to have a very smooth transition over. If you need anything, don't know where something is, are confused, or just have a question about the new forums, remember that the moderators are there to help!

Sending a chat message is relatively easy, but just in case, it is Profile Page>Three dots in the big blue circle>Start new chat with (username). If for some reason you are unable to contact a moderator, you can send a message to my Discord (Borvik#8160) or my Twitter.

There will be a handy Welcome thread that should at least assist with startup.

The new forums do not use BBCode, but rather another formatting system called Markdown. A quick guide for it from another forum is here: https://nodebb.cityofarabel.com/topi...ext-look-fancy I've already went through it and the only thing not available on the forums is the colour formatting.

For the joy of many, I don't think I will join new forum. All friends left, devs simply ignore whatever is said by not random flank main streaming on YouTube and the game is going along a line we have been criticizing since long. Tons of bugs, MM is still an insult, balance is a joke... Not even the "put shattered desert map as TDM only" has been listened, even if, whenever we enter that map, someone writes "I hate this map" and everyone else agrees.
Add to that the fact that experience is going to be deleted [as for buying levels in game (things we've been complaining about since it has been introduced)!], and I really see no reason to go over there and start again from scratch, as whatever random newbie that has one week experience of the game.

Considering a db is just tables of text, and that I have migrated many forums, I am extremely perplexed that professional programmers can't import old posts.

Why would people be glad for your absence?

Why don't they just call reddit the official forums?

Maybe your friends can't login. Some of them might come back.

My son likes Shattered Desert. I'm not a big fan but I can live with it.

Are you referring to forum experience? Not important to me - but that's me.

Among other things I can imagine they might want the 200 pages of MM rants to die. In some ways a fresh start might be a good thing.
