Mini Guide to Makoa Burst Combos

Alright so one day I was watching people play Makoa and I realized that the timer between shots counts down while you're hooking.
What I mean by that is that Makoa shoots once per second, and if you shoot and immediately hook, you can fire again immediately

So that's inspired me to find every burst combo that Makoa may or may not have, enjoy!
Note: One shots means they can be killed using this combo without HP booster cards or damage reduction

Combos that can be pulled off with no damage taken

1. Hook + Shoot: 750 damage
One shots: No one

With Pluck: 1173 damage
One shots: No one

The ol' reliable. Remember to run Salvage as a filler at level 1.


2. Shoot + Hook + Shoot: 1400 damage
One shots: No one

With Pluck: 1823 damage
One shots: Evie


3. Shoot + Hook + Shoot + Shell Spin: 1600 damage
One shots: No one

With Pluck: 2023 damage
One shots: Evie, Skye, Koga, Talus, Sha Lin, Lian, Maeve, Zhin

This burns most of your cooldowns so do try to use it only when you are certain of a kill


A note here, right after you fire a shot, you can actually ult and immediately swing your anchor. The animation won't play, but you will do damage, which means you can burst more (yay)

4. Shoot + Hook + Shoot + Ult: 2050 damage
One shots: Evie, Skye, Koga, Talus, Sha Lin, Lian, Maeve, Zhin

With Pluck: 2473 damage
One shots: Imani, Furia, Skye, Vivian, Androxus, Bomb King, Buck, Cassie, Dredge, Drogoz, Evie, Grohk, Grover, Jenos, Kinessa, Koga, Lex, Lian, Maeve, Mal'Damba, Moji, Pip, Seris, Sha Lin, Strix, Talus, Tyra, Viktor, Willo, Ying, Zhin



Yeah now it's getting interesting, get a free pick and dive as far as you want for it with your ult self heal.


5. Shoot + Hook + Shoot + Ult + Shell Spin: 2250 damage
One shots: Imani, Furia, Skye, Vivian, Androxus, Bomb King, Cassie, Dredge, Drogoz, Evie, Grohk, Jenos, Kinessa, Koga, Lex, Lian, Maeve, Mal'Damba, Moji, Pip, Seris, Sha Lin, Strix, Talus, Viktor, Willo, Ying, Zhin

With Pluck: 2673 damage
One shots: Imani, Furia, Skye, Vivian, Androxus, Bomb King, Cassie, Dredge, Drogoz, Evie, Grohk, Jenos, Kinessa, Koga, Lex, Lian, Maeve, Mal'Damba, Moji, Pip, Seris, Sha Lin, Strix, Talus, Viktor, Willo, Ying, Zhin

Anyone who bans Khan over Makoa after 2.01 is actually stupid. Honestly, there's no reason to ban Khan at all, because there are +10 champions I'd rather ban.

I can give you my opinion

Yes

Makoa's base hook is arguably one of if not the best ability in the game because of its ability to displace enemy champions. Adding the damage bonus gives you an extremely powerful combo that can easily put down most champions in seconds. If the other frontline on your team is playing more defensively, pluck is an amazing pick.

Yes but I recommend putting considering the non-hook cards as well. My build is Salvage 2 (at least 1 in any hook build; it's absolutely essential), Strongarm 4 (great for more hooks), Rampage 3 (great for chasing retreating enemies), Lighter Cannonballs 3 (I like faster reload speed on makoa), Surf 3 (great for chasing or escaping). This may not be the best build but it's mine for Pluck. Maybe you could use it for a template.
